DESCRIPTION
An energy weapon which fires highly compressed energy particles. Powered with an exclusive component of ancient origin, the Rockbuster is a unique Buster-type weapon which possesses limitless combat endurance; requiring no need for reloading or resupply of energy or ammunition.
Developed by the Casquets' resident mechanic Roll, the Rockbuster is made specifically for the main hero Rock, who uses this weapon along with his Digouter Armor in Digouts and basic combat. Unlike most conventional weapons, Rock has been given the unique ability to use a special hand sign to 'call' and switch his lower left arm in place of the weapon in an instant (and vice versa).
The Rockbuster's most distinctive trait is its limitless ammo/energy. Unlike conventional weapons that replicate a Buster's destructive power by using pre-charged energy shells, the Rockbuster uses a piece of ancient technology referred to as a Compact Reactor to provide it with the energy needed to function without a continuous resupply of power or ammunition. This effectively gives Rock a significant advantage over most opposition, especially when it comes to combat endurance.
When opened to expose the sides, the inner sides of the Rockbuster gives access to the shield battery slot (for field replenishing) and a set of modular hubs for installing output modifiers. Placing these into the hubs will alter the output of the Rockbuster's shots (e.g. power output, rate of fire, effective range, etc).
On the outer surface of the Rockbuster includes a bar consisting of five yellow lights, which acts as a visual indicator for his Armor's shield levels.
Though the Rockbuster has a limitless operating time, each shot generates a high amount of heat which can gradually build up if fired repeatedly over a short period of time. As a result, its actual rate of fire will be much lower than its technical potential in most situations. As over-exering the Buster can cause damage to its Compact Reactor (which is effectively irreplacable), a built-in circuit will sever itself the moment the Buster's temperature exceeds its safe threshold.
However, it should be noted that the amount of shots actually needed to cause an overheating problem is considerably large to begin with, making this an unlikely scenario unless the weapon is deliberately 'exhausted' through certain means outside of its intended limitations.
Like any Buster weapons, another disadvantage of the Rockbuster is the large amounts of noise (specifically: heat & sound) generated from firing it. As technologies exist for monitoring these signals (used both by people and certain Reaverds), this makes the weapon impractical for situations which rely heavily on stealth.
In the event that the Rockbuster is damaged sufficiently, the weapon will 'uncall' itself, reverting it back to his arm (with its damages 'carried over'). Likewise, Rock cannot 'call' the Rockbuster if his left arm's armor is sufficiently damaged, or missing (e.g. without his armor on). Additionally, Rock cannot revert back to his hand if the Rockbuster is experiencing certain abnormalities (e.g. overheating).
